The Death Penalty Project.

TAMCODE believes that the right to life is sacred without which other rights can never be enjoyed. It is based on the above assumption that TAMCODE has ever since its inception engaged in a campaign towards the abolition of the mandatory imposition of the death penalty owing to the punishment being irreversible with experience indicating that judges are humans who at times commit errors in situations that could see people die for the crime that they did not commit.

TAMCODE has been paying attention to climate change worldwide, specifically in Tanzania, and its impact on food security coupled with a water shortage.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY

TAMCODE partners with Iringa Municipal Council, Local NGO to mark International Women’s Day 2023 On March 6, TAMCODE took part in the commemorations of the International Women’s Day in Iringa. The event brought together more than 3,000 women in the municipalities. Iringa Regional Commissioner Honorable Halima Dendego graced the event. Several presentations were made to sensitize delegates on sextortion, gender based violence as well as child abuse. The event was organized by the Iringa Municipal Council in collaboration with the Sauti ya Haki Tanzania and TAMCODE.

FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND DEMOCRATIC SPACE

On March 23rd, 2023, TAMCODE attended a dialogue on the state of freedom of expression and democratic space in Tanzania, lessons to improve good governance. The two days session was organized by the LHRC, Tanzania Editors' Forum and International Center for Not for Profit Law. While there, TAMCODE Executive Director called upon the need to amend the Prisons Act of 1967 to ensure that members of the press are allowed to report on prisoners. This, she said, will help not only to improve the prisons services, but also to unveil stories of prisoners who were wrongly convicted.
